What these cover

Three things: this website, the licence you get when you buy one of Jefi’s Mac apps (Jefi Mail or Jefi Shot), and how buying works. Jefi’s apps are made and sold by Eric Maro, an individual based in Tanzania, reachable at hello@jefi.app or through the contact page. Buying or using either app means accepting what is on this page. Where it says “the app”, it means whichever one you bought; each app is sold, licensed and activated separately, and a licence for one doesn’t unlock the other.

The free trial

Each app runs for 14 days without a licence and without a card. Nothing starts, nothing renews, and there is nothing to cancel. When the trial ends, nothing you made is lost. In Jefi Mail, mail already on your Mac stays readable and searchable; syncing and sending pause until you enter a licence key. In Jefi Shot, your recordings still open and edit; recording and exporting pause until you enter a licence key.

What you get when you buy

  • A perpetual licence for the major version line you bought. It does not expire, and it keeps working after the trial, offline, and after a reinstall.
  • Use on up to three Macs that are yours, at the same time. You can move a Mac off the licence.
  • Personal or business use, both included. There is no separate commercial price.
  • A licence key, delivered by email by Polar right after payment. If it doesn’t arrive, write to hello@jefi.app and we will resend it.
  • One purchase, one price. There is no subscription and no recurring charge of any kind.

What the licence doesn’t allow

  • Selling, renting, sublicensing or giving away your licence key, or publishing it anywhere.
  • Sharing one licence across people or organisations, or using it on Macs that aren’t yours.
  • Working around activation or the device limit, or patching the app to do so.
  • Redistributing either app, repackaging it, or shipping it as part of another product.
  • Removing copyright notices. You own your mail and your data; we keep the copyright in the app itself.

Activation and offline use

Entering your key activates it over the internet: the app asks jefi.app, which passes the request to Polar, where your licence lives. After that the app works offline. It re-checks the licence now and then, and if it can’t reach the internet it keeps working for a 14-day grace period before asking you to reconnect. A licence check carries your key, which app it’s for, and a label for the Mac. Nothing about your mail or your recordings is ever part of it.

Updates

Updates within the major version line you bought are included, for as long as we ship them. A future major version may be a paid upgrade; if it is, your existing licence keeps working on the version line you own.

Refunds

Try it first, then buy: that is what the free trial is for. Each app runs in full for 14 days without a card, so you can put your real mail through Jefi Mail, or record real demos with Jefi Shot, on your real Mac, before any money changes hands. Because of that, purchases are final and we don’t offer refunds for changing your mind.

Two things we won’t hide behind that. Where your local consumer law gives you a refund or withdrawal right, you keep it — nothing on this page takes it away, and Polar, who takes the payment, applies the law as well. And if an app is broken in a way we can’t fix, write to hello@jefi.app and we’ll sort it out rather than point at this paragraph.

Price, payment and tax

Jefi Mail costs $49 once; its first 200 licences are $29, the founding price. Jefi Shot costs $29 once; its first 200 licences are $19. Polar stops applying a founding price when that app’s founding licences are gone. Polar (Polar Software, Inc., 3500 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901, USA) is the merchant of record for every purchase: it takes the payment, handles any sales tax or VAT, and issues your receipt. Your purchase is also covered by Polar’s buyer terms. We never see or store your card details.

What it runs on

Jefi Mail needs a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 13 or later; Intel Macs cannot run it. Jefi Shot needs macOS 15.2 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. Requirements are listed before you buy, and the free trial is there so you can check the app runs on your Mac before paying for it.

Your mail, your recordings, your data

Jefi Mail talks straight from your Mac to your email provider, and Jefi Shot keeps your recordings on your Mac. We don’t operate servers that hold your mail or your recordings, and no one here can see them. The privacy policy is the full account, including how optional AI features and agents work with your own provider.

Using this site

Please don’t misuse the site: no automated sign-ups, no attempts to break or overload it, and no messages meant to harass anyone. We may remove entries or block requests that do.

The email list

  • Joining is free and doesn’t commit you to anything.
  • We write about releases and pricing for Jefi’s apps. Nothing else, and no newsletter.
  • Every email has a removal link, or you can ask us to delete your address at any time.

No warranty

Jefi’s apps are provided as they are. We build them carefully and use them ourselves every day, but we can’t promise they will be free of bugs, work with every provider or app, or never lose a sync or a take. Your mail lives with your provider; Jefi Mail is a way to read it, not a backup of it. Keep copies of recordings that matter.

Limits on liability

If something goes wrong and it is our fault, what you can claim from us is limited to what you paid for your licence. We aren’t liable for lost profits, lost data, or other indirect losses. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, and nothing here takes away the rights your local consumer law gives you.

Ending the licence

Your licence lasts until you stop using it. We can end it for abuse: sharing or publishing keys, defeating activation, chargeback fraud, or using either app to break the law. If we do, we’ll tell you why at your purchase email address, and we’ll refund you if the ending wasn’t your fault.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of Tanzania. If you bought an app as a consumer, that takes nothing away from you: wherever you live, you keep the consumer protections of your own country, and you can always bring a claim there. We’ll try to settle anything by email first: it is usually faster than either of us expects.

Changes

If we change these terms, we’ll update the date above. Changes apply going forward; the licence you already bought keeps the terms it was sold under.
